8/26/2023 0 Comments Austin dim sum sunday![]() If you are in Austin, TX highly recommend you to try the soup dumplings they have to offer. If we were to go back, it would only be for the soup dumplings and dummy rice as they truly are delicious, the rest of the dishes were ok not great compared some other Asian restaurant we have been to. They do have both indoor and outdoor seating. It wasn't a deal breaker but did leave bit of bitter feeling at the end. Coming from experience in service and hospitality industry, we felt the way it was conveyed wasn't polite. Soon after he bought it, he said they are waiting for us to leave as they need to give our table to another group. Especially as we waited on him to bring the bill. The service was mediocre and I felt the way the server handled how he wanted us to leave as there was another group waiting wasn't very professional. The rest of the food was average in our opinion. ![]() And I must say they definitely didn't disappoint us. Also all of their special martinis are 5. These seafood noodles came to our table not as I expected but they were delicious! They were prepared slightly Italian-style and were covered in tons of scallops, mussels, octopus, shrimp and clams. Jon Clegg: On Sunday nights all of their dim sum and a few other assorted dishes are 5. It was divine and I’m definitely ordering them next time I visit. They’re dry rubbed with garlic, ginger and spices and served with a spicy miso sauce. These grilled lamb chops were a work of art. It was served with a rich Malaysian curry – such a wonderful, flavorful dish! It sounds so simple but it was sooo delicious! We also tried the onion pancake – it was incredibly fluffy and light. They were out of baby bok choy, so they substituted the veggie with mustard greens plus added Japanese shiitake mushrooms and served it in a huge plate with a light soy-based sauce. I especially liked the hot chili oil on the side for drizzling/dipping. I finally understood what all the hype was about – they were beautifully crafted and absolutely delicious. We then had the chicken and pork soup dumplings and crispy shu mai. We put a tremendous amount of care and attention into the process, making sure we only use what we. We started out with cocktails (of course) – a lychee martini and a ginger-tequila cocktail. Each dumpling is handmade from scratch, including the dough. Lin Asian Bar + Dim Sum opened by Chef Ling Qi Wu has been open for a few months and it has already becoming an Austin favourite! I was delighted to try their dinner menu full of incredible Asian cuisine with my friend/blogger Kelsey.
